Silicon Boule / Ingot One of a Kind Cincinnati Milacron 1982 Listed is a one of a kind Single Crystal Silicon (Si. Wafer) Boule/ Ingot. It measures: Diameter: Top Diameter 5” Bottom Diameter 3 ¼ “ Height: 6 ¾ “ Weight: 4 lbs. 6oz. This particular piece was produced approximately June 1982 at the Cincinnati Milacron Silicon Substrate production facility in Lebanon, Ohio. My father was the production Manager and the original designer of this (chip farm) facility. That term was not used in those days. The only reason I know dates is because of old paper labels my Dad had put on them. Various ingots of this type and size did not meet specifications or were production flaws or mistakes. This one is a unique piece in its own right because it is a production flaw. Usually they were discarded or ground up for disposal. I have often wanted to display this properly on a wood or stone base, but never had the opportunity to do that. It is quite unique of course and the general look of it is the whole story. The surface rings present from when it is in its molten state, enhance the look I think. Silicon is basically molten during certain stages of ingot growth. I hate to part with this or any of these. Item will be packed as an item as this should be and fully insured for value during shipping. Please ask questions.
